To commemorate the 93rd Birth Anniversary of Mata Jarnail Kaur on 13th Aug 2020, Desh Bhagat Hospital and college of Desh Bhagat University distributed plant saplings of neem, amla ,baheda,harad,peepal, banyantree etc. to G.G.S College Sector 26 Chandigarh through Prof. T. S Brar, Head Commerce, Pardhan Gurudwara and Pardhan Mandir Committee, Sector 67, Chairman, Preet Land promoters, Amritpal Singh Bhangu for planting plants for rice shellers etc. to the Panch and Sarpanchs of nearby villages of Desh Bhagat University. Total 101 saplings were distributed
The Panch and Sarpanchs of nearby villages were informed about the Mata Jarnail Kaur Scholarship Scheme so that needy can benefit. They appreciated the extraordinary efforts initiated by Dr.Zora Singh for helping the needy students with education and categorized ‘Vidyaa Daan as a Mahadaan’ .
Dr Zora Singh , Chancellor, Dr. Tejinder Kaur , Pro Chancellor , Desh Bhagat University, remembered her and said , ”She was promoter of environment and cleanliness and used to sensitize everyone to conserve the environment, so we decided to organize the plant distribution drive on her birth anniversary .In future, we will distribute one Lakh medicinal/fruit plants. The plants for distribution will be prepared in the complex of Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, Desh Bhagat Global School, Shri Muktsar Sahib and at the farm house of S. Lakha Singh Retd. Additional Director in order to cater the respective areas. These plants will be distributed free of cost.
Earlier we had declared scholarship worth Rs 11 crores for the deserving students in her pious memory, as we all are not only going through the great level of stress but also a considerable economic loss due to the spread of pandemic COVID-19 and continuous lockdown.”
