Department of Business Management, Commerce & Economics of Desh Bhagat University organized a Seminar on "National Human Trafficking Awareness Day” to aware people about increasing crimes like human trafficking for different purposes like labor, sex trafficking etc. all over the country. The program was intended to create awareness and sensitivity among students and staff members regarding the selling and purchasing of humans as if they are non-living things.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor DBU expressed his concern about these increasing crimes and lack of knowledge among the people about human trafficking. He said if we wish to make our nation safe; we need to educate everybody around us about the facts and reasons behind the coercion, frauds and loots happening around the country.
Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor DBU congratulated staff and students for successful conduct of the event.
Dr. Shalini Gupta, Vice Chancellor DBU said that “Trafficking in persons is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. Every year, a lot of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims and its high time that we all should start getting aware about human trafficking.”
Dr. Rajni Saluja, HOD, delivered welcome speech on the event and Assistant Professors Dr. Pooja, Ms. Kirti Sharma, Ms. Priyanka and Mr. Manmeet Singh were the speakers and coordinators of the event. A presentation was exhibited for the audience to explain the need for awareness regarding this serious crime. Students of MBA, M.COM, BBA and B.COM attended the seminar.
