Faculty of Education and Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages in collaboration with Literary Club of the University celebrated Subhas Chandra Jayanti .
The purpose of the activity was to remind the students about the Life and Moral values of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose who was an Indian revolutionary in the independence movement against British rule in India. He also led an Indian National force from abroad against the Western powers during World War II. He was a contemporary of Mahatma Gandhi, at times an ally and at other times an adversary.
The programme started with a patriotic group song sung by students of School of Education. Mr. Gurchinder Singh, Assistant Professor in Psychology highlighted briefly the life of Netaji. Anoop Kumar, student of M.A. Hindi also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Ajaypal Singh, the speaker of the day highlighted in detail the life and works of Netaji in his lecture. He related about his birth, childhood and family at the starting of his lecture. He recounted the morals and principals of this great leader of India which became inspiration for million of people around the globe at his times and his thoughts are still influencing people. The speaker told how this great leader initiated freedom struggle of India. His political views were in support of complete freedom for India with a classless society and state socialism at the earliest.
