Desh Bhahat University celebrated the festival of Lohri with lot
of enthusiasm and fervor on 13January 2022. Festivals in India are not only the
rituals to perform but they are explicitly associated with our legacy to
celebrate togetherness. The festival of Lohri which makes the endof winters is
celebrated across India mostly Northern parts , especially in Punjab. This
festivemood on the campus was upbeat and the spirit of the students was high
when they tapped theirhappy feet on the beats of ‘Giddha- Bhangra’ and sang
traditional Lohri song like ‘Sunder Mundriye’. Later dry snacks (Moongfali and
Revri) were distributed among the students.The program was graced with the
presence of Dr. Zora Singh, Honourable ChancellorDeshBhagat University, Dr.
Tajinder Kaur, Honourable Pro Chancellor Desh Bhagat UniversityDr. (Er) Sandeep
Singh and Dr. Shalini Gupta, Worthy Vice Chancellor Desh Bhagat University, Dr.
Virender Singh, advisor to Honourable Chancellor sir.Dr. Zora Singh, Honourable
Chancellor Desh Bhagat University in his address gave the massage of Lohri-
“Kudiyan di Lohri”. He also emphasized on save the girl child and to set aside
Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Honourable Pro Chancellor Desh Bhagat University deliberated theimportance of Lohri and advised the students to enjoy the warmth of this holy fire and burn alltheir fears.Dr. Shalini Gupta, Honourable Vice Chancellor Desg Bhagat University also blessed the students. She emphasized that Lohri festival prompts people to be thankful for God’s provision and also encouraged teachers to play a vital role to keep the tradition and culture alive in our festivities.
