Polio is an infectious disease caused by the poliovirus. On 27th
February 2022, a Pulse Polio Campaign was organized by Civil Hospital Amloh,
civil hospital Mandi Gobindgarh and Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib. S. Lal
Singh memorial Institute of Nursing, Desh Bhagat University also participated
in the pulse polio campaign. 56
students from S. Lal Singh Institute of Nursing very enthusiastically took part
in the campaign. Ms. Vijay Lakshmi, Director of S. Lal Singh Memorial Institute
of Nursing, also took an active part in it. Many people brought their children
to get polio drops.
A team of eminent doctors and nursing students attended the
campaign and provided their services
Ms. Vijay Lakshmi motivated the people about the pulse polio campaign.
She said that polio mainly affects children under the age of five and can be a
threat to children’s life. She also added that children are the future of our
nation. We should ensure that every child must get his polio drops. The proper
covid protocol was followed in this drive.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor Desh Bhagat University appreciated the students and faculty for participating in the pulse polio campaign. Dr. Zora Singh emphasized that polio is a disabling and life-threatening disease. It invades the nervous system and can cause paralysis or even death. It is our responsibility to protect children from this disease and give them a healthy life.
